This mythical deity is a perennial contributor to the stories of Mason Classical Academy’s curriculum: as contributor during the Trojan War, constant presence and looming force during Odysseus’s journey home, and oft-referenced force in any nautical tale. The Juniors at MCA could tell you more, since they spend over 3 months reading Melville's classic! For those who really want to dive into the belly of the beast, there is the option to support MCA as a Monstro Sponsor. In the classic Italian tale, Pinnochio, Monstro is a fearsome whale who swallows the puppet, then later spits him out, fulfilling this stage in the archetypal hero's journey as first illustrated by famed literary professor and mythologist, Dr. Joseph Campell. According to Campbell: “The belly is the dark place where digestion takes place and new energy is created…an example of a mythic theme that is practically universal, of the hero going into a fish's belly and ultimately coming out again, transformed…a variant of the death-and-resurrection theme.”

Sign up to sponsor a Paladin student or teacher. If the Paladin you sponsor catches the largest Redfish, Snook, Trout, or Bass, you will win your own $1,000 cash prize.
You can sponsor a specific Paladin student or teacher or we will randomly assign one to you.

Please note, your sponsorship of the Paladin does not cover the cost of their entry to the tournament. It simply provides you the chance to win your own $1,000 prize.
